Translation of Sightseeing is a live video and sound performance by Yuko Nexus6 and Mariko Tajiri that explores and exposes the inevitable gaps, delusions, gaga thoughts, postcards, and stereotypes made by tourists in foreign countries.
Using laptop computer and cassette tapes, with real time and pre-recorded video, these two award-winning Japanese ÒtouristsÓ are sampling and projecting their digital media souvenirs for audiences all along the way.
A version of Translation of Sightseeing was released as a CD by the Portland-based label, Onomato 2005. Each CD features unique handmade cover art and Mariko's original photos, with music based on field recordings that Yuko made from the duoÕs European tour 2004.
